***Giveaway closed! Thanks for entering, and congratulations to Chelsea, the lucky winner!***
I got the chance recently to take a pattern from Birdsong Bows for a test drive—what a cute shop with such adorable designs!
There’s a lot to love . . . page after page of photo-packed, tutorial-style patterns for hair bows, tutus, fabric and ribbon flowers, and other accessories. Here are a few of my favorite items:
I love how fancy the flower patterns look . . . they have such a whimsical, fairy-tale look. Deanna, the designer and owner of Birdsong Bows, told me: “I started my business in 2006, selling bows, because my youngest daughter needed some cute bows to go with her school uniform! I'm originally a journalist. I love designing patterns as much as I love writing and photographing the steps!”
I picked out the Camellia Flower pattern to try myself—something about that full, fluffy flower called out to me. I figured it might be a little too big for me to get away with wearing in my hair, but never fear . . .
. . . it is a fabulous pin (feel free to picture me saying that while making some dramatic hand gestures). It makes such a great accessory for little girls (hello, gigantic hair bows!) or big girls (this would have been a really boring outfit if it weren’t for that big fun flower, don’t you think? It sure helps my unexciting wardrobe look a little more interesting!).
I love the full, soft, fluffy look of this flower, and the pattern definitely gets two thumbs up. There was a photo for every single step of the way, so I never had any questions or concerns that I was messing anything up, and the instructions were so thorough. This is the difference, I think, between spending a few dollars to purchase a pattern versus just winging it based on a couple pictures, or trying to follow a confusing tutorial you found free somewhere: I knew exactly what I needed to do to make my flower come out exactly like the picture. I feel confident that this pattern would give great results even for someone who has never made flowers or accessories like this before . . . no worries about experience here.
It was quick and straightforward to make, and I think it’s going to be getting a lot of wear (and a lot of matching friends . . . one in every color)!
Want to try out some patterns for yourself? One winner will receive FIVE PATTERNS of their choice from Birdsong Bows! That is a lot of patterns . . . think of all the cute accessories you could create!
That’s it! (Am I the only one who hates giveaways with like 52 different entry methods? If there are more than 2 or 3 ways to enter, I don’t even bother. So we’re keeping it simple.)
I’ll randomly choose a winner on Wednesday, February 8th. Have fun!
