This Week

This week:

Bold navy and white stripes + yellow skinnies

I gave these pants another try. A chance to redeem themselves, if you will.

Bold navy and white stripes + yellow skinnies

They are still the worst.

Top: c/o LuLu*s // Pants: Old Navy (booo!!! hisss!!!) // Sandals: Target // Bag: c/o Lily Jade

We went to the Provo Farmer’s Market on Saturday, where Forrest silently fumed with the greenest of jealousy that other kids, whose parents are obviously much smarter and kinder and more loving and better prepared than we are, got to play in the splash pad. So we did what any sensible parents would do.

He begged and begged to ditch the underpants. Sorry kiddo. I have to draw the line somewhere, and it seems I draw it just south of public underpants but slightly north of total nudity.

I feel like I wasted my week on this book, and I’m kind of annoyed that it fooled me by starting out strong and slowly—so, soooo slowly—declining until I was in too deep to just give up and move on. I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of my next library hold to get that book’s taste out of my mouth. My brain. My brain-mouth.

I (and by “I,” I of course mean “my mom”) started reworking my gallery wall as part of a little living room spruce-up, and the small handful of people who have entered the room this week have very politely not commented on the giant gaps and empty holes between frames as I’ve been rearranging them and figuring out what to add to it, as well as the photos hung sideways and upside-down as I figure out what arrangement I like best. Is this a case of highly polite friends and neighbors, or is it more likely that my friends and neighbors have fully accepted my insanity and to them, this is just par for the course in my casa? (I think it’s the latter.)

Anybody have any experience using this? I’m intrigued. Very intrigued.

I reworked some listings in my Etsy shop and restocked it with lots of custom orders for cute hats and darling baby blankets (in case you didn’t know, it’s been mostly empty for months as I adjusted to life with 2 kids—not sure one ever fully adjusts, but at any rate, I’m ready to crochet again). I posted a coupon code on my facebook page, so head over and gimme a like and grab that coupon code, if you feel so inclined!

  1. never tried that eyelash/eyebrow thing, but i just learned the other day that if you put a drop of lavender essential oil and a drop of rosemary essential oil in your mascara, that it makes your lashes grow thicker and longer in about 6-8 weeks.

    i put the oils in.

but i often forget to put on mascara.

    it's not a flawless system.

  2. Hahaha! A step at a time, I guess ;-) Sounds intriguing!

  3. I would try a natural oil like olive, castor (hexane free) sweet almond or grapeseed. It doesn't have all the unpronounceable ingredients which I don't feel comfortable around my eyes. Clean an old mascara wand and apply before bed. It conditions and relieves brittleness. Hair needs oil to grow. Google it for more info. About your pants...they look good on you but didn't you say they were uncomfortably tight before?

  4. Yes . . . and they still are :-( I thought I'd give them another try but they're just as awful as before!

  5. I wish I could show you a picture of my outfit today. I'm wearing the same Old Navy pants in a magenta color and the same sandals in black. I often wear a navy and white striped shirt with them, but today I changed my mind as I was walking out the door.

I love the color of my pants and I always gets compliments on them, but being able to bend my knees to sit would be nice. They really are so uncomfortable. I wear them with boots in the winter and rolled up at the bottom in the summer to make them sort of boyfriend-ish. I keep thinking they'll stretch...

  6. Well great, now I want magenta skinnies, too. And seriously, you'd think someone, anyone, behind the scenes at Old Navy would have thought, "Hey, knee bending would be a nice option to add to these pants!" #fail

  7. Awesome. haha. Can't we just be neighbors? I haven't tried anything like that eyelash stuff...mostly because my eyelashes are naturally quite long already. Also once I read the warnings and possible side effects for another brand, and it was like 'may cause permanant brown splotches to appear on eyelids." I was like wow no thank you. So I've stayed away from anything of the sort ever since. BUT I have always used vaseline to take of mascara and I heard/read that vaseline improves growth....so maybe that's been my secret all along. ;)

  10. This is so lovely and I've been wanting to get a new bedspread for my queen size bed...it's just be and my cat "Jackie", so I will put another throw over this one when I get it finished, will not begin with it til fall tho since working on it during the summer could prove to be quite warm sitting under it.

  11. I have THE solution !!!!! Turn them into the length of those cute shorts you were wearing in the last picture of your "tan legs" blog! No more tight knees :-)

  12. i love this pattern! managed to download the pattern but nowhere on it does it state the amount of wool meant to be used, and what weight?

  13. I totally thought you rocked those pants! & your son in his underpants too! Lol!! The things we do for our kiddos!

  14. Not sure about the amount used, but I used worsted weight yarn.

  15. Thanks so much! Always looking our best over here ;-)

  16. So true, it gets awfully toasty working on a huge blanket in the summer. Hope you enjoy it!

  17. I love the picture of Forrest in the splash park. Kids have a way of getting what they want, don't they?

Love your outfit. comfort is overrated.

  18. Of the five pairs of bootcuts I made into skinnies (thanks to your awesome tutorial!) one pair inexplicably turned out too tight in the knees and calves. Guess what I'm heading downstairs to do ;-)

  19. It's amazing. Can you give an indication of the quantity of wool needed?

  20. This is beautiful! How many did you chain at the beginning to make it queen size?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am so sorry, but I don't remember! I think I just chained until the chain was as wide as I wanted my finished to be, then added a few inches more (because I figured the zig-zaggy pattern would pull the width in a little). I wish I had made a note of the exact number!

  22. The railing looks great! I am just going through the same problem with a coffee table, my stain was disaster. Now I am considering to paint it same color you mentioned, but I wanted to ask you if you used a paint sprayer?

  23. Nope, I just brushed it on. Thanks, Susana!
