This post brought to you by TRESemmé. All opinions are 100% mine.
Although now that I'm searching through pictures of the ever-lovely Emma, I'm starting to miss having hair more like this:
Sometimes when I read sponsored blog posts, I get a little suspicious . . . do they really like this product as much as they claim to? Or do they just like getting a check in the mail in return for writing a glowing review? I never know if I can trust them or not . . . which is why I hope you'll believe me when I say that even though, sure, I'm getting paid for writing this, this topic has actually been on my "to blog about" list for quite a while and I just haven't gotten around to it yet. So, hey, if Tresemme wants to pay me for writing about a product I would have written about anyway, I'll take it!
So I want to tell you about a favorite product of mine--TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to styling my hair . . . which is why I love this haircut. Styling time? 10 minutes, max.
But there was a time when my hair was longer. Much longer. And when I had long hair, dry shampoo was my best friend (I still use it, but it was especially helpful with longer hair!). There are so many ways I'd rather spend my time than confined in the bathroom with my blow dryer and straightener and curling iron. Maybe you'll think this is nasty and shouldn't be admitted online, but get ready for a secret: when I had long hair, I only washed it once or twice a week. (Are you grossed out?)
It was the perfect solution for me, someone who liked having long, pretty hair but hated the time commitment--I'd just put in the time to style it once or twice a week, then use dry shampoo to keep it looking fresh and clean between washes, without having to wash and style it all over again. It absorbs oil and gives your hair a fresh look and clean citrus-y scent without shampooing.
When your hair needs a boost, just give the can a good shake, then lift up sections of hair and spray it at the roots to absorb oil. Spray in short bursts with the can about 8-12 inches from your head (and don't spray it all over like hair spray). Leave it in for a minute or two, then brush it through your hair, and you'll look like you've just washed and styled your hair, without using a drop of water. It was such a timesaver for me--I could hang onto a styling for days before having to wash and style it again.
The TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo line includes dry shampoos that are Strengthening, Volumizing, Moisturizing, and Smoothing, so you can choose one to fit your hair's needs. There's even a youtube video to show how to use it properly (and you can enter to win a $500 Target gift card--check out the giveaway at the video link).
And hey, if all else fails, you can join me with an Emma Watson-inspired pixie cut. How cute is she, honestly?
Gotta tell ya, Rachel...I've been hemming & hawing (sp?) about buying this for a while...but I think you may have helped me make a decision...I will definitely be picking some up next time I'm at Target...and darn, girl, you are adorable...
ReplyDeleteI think it's totally fitting that you do a hair product post. I LOVE your hair! I'm with you on the lazy hair thing!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree, this stuff rocks. :) I have long hair & only wash it twice a week--thanks to this little product. :)
ReplyDeleteI really want to try this stuff for when I wear my hair straight! I typically wash my hair 1-2 times a week when I have it curly. My husband thinks that's gross. I tell him that it's healthy. :)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you on not washing your hair more than a couple of times a week! Washing your hair strips it of a lot of natural oils which you have to put back in by using a conditioner. Using styling tools dries it even more. Then we wonder why our hair is in such bad shape and we have to spend a fortune on treatments to get it back in shape? When I was growing up in Europe we were taught only to wash your hair as often as it needed to be i.e. whenever it got greasy and dirty. In may case that was every 4 days or so and I loved dry shampoos as they let me go and extra day! I now live in the Philippines where perspiration as well as the pollution makes my hair dirty a lot faster, but still I try and only wash it ever 2 or 3 days, as I also now dye it so it is very dry. But it would be in even worse condition if I washed it every day. Anyway who has time to spend 30mins every morning styling there hair?
ReplyDeleteLove your hair cut by the way, but I don't have the patience to go to a hairdresser to have it cut every 4 weeks!
Well isn't that nifty? I've been doing the no shampoo thing for about 4 months now, and really like it...but sometimes I need something in between...and this sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing!

I never wash my hair with shampoo! You dont need it and it just gets you into an endless washing cycle which leaves your hair dry and then greasy. Baking soda and apple cider vinegar all the way for me and then only once a week. Much healthier, cheaper and better for the environment. Try it!
ReplyDeleteI used to use a different dry shampoo but swapped to this when it came out a couple of weeks ago in the UK. (We're always a bit behind) and I love it so much more!
ReplyDeleteNow, really, be honest....is it really less work having such a cute short haircut? Ever since I found your blog I've pondered over cutting my hair and *blushes* lusted over your short hair cut. I'm fed up of having to do my hair so often and tying it back 2 days out of 3 cos I don't like to style it every day....ok, really I just wash it once every 3 days. Anyway, I've just realised I'm getting rather personal, sorry! I'd love to know what your daily hair routine is though, it might help me to build up the courage to have the chop!
xx
I don't think washing your hair only once or twice a week is gross at all. I was mine only once a week as it does not grease up that badly or flake. Guess I am just lucky in that respect:)
ReplyDeleteI was LITERALLY just thinking about trying dry shampoo this morning as I was styling my hair! I was gonna call my friend out here who I know uses some, but it looks like I won't ahve to now! HOLLA! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHow did I not know about dry shampoo??? I'm growing my hair out and definitely need this!
ReplyDeleteNope, I'm not grossed out at all. I wash my hair only 2-3 times per week. Life is so much better that way!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of dry shampoo--consider me just coming out from underneath my hair rock. I also am not a fan of fussing, so I may have to look into this stuff...
ReplyDeleteYour short hair is adorable! :)
